Movies: The Avengers (2012) - Favorite scenes

An action packed movie, with funny one liners, sexy women in tight fitting costumes, handsome heroes... This movie sure did capture a lot of our hearts - of course in its own little ways... and here are some favorite scenes not only by me but also by friends and people who have watched the movie.

So here goes:

A Scene Where Thor told Loki, "You listen well brother...", he paused, then Ironman came flying, blitzing, fire-blazing, and throwing Thor out of the scene. Then Loki (now alone) funnily retorted, "I'm listening..."

A simple scene where Tony Stark said to Hulk that he admires his work but then came back especially when he loses control and turns into a green monster.. and he can only say 'thanks'... haha

The team was gathered in the room and they were all discussing about what will be Loki's plan, again, blah, blah, blah. Then Bruce Banner insulted Loki's brain and capability in which Thor reiterated, "He is of Asgard and he is my brother!" Then Blackwidow replied, "He killed eighty people in two days." Thor retorted in a deadpan manner, "He's adopted."

HawkEye shooting with his arrow on his back - kind of funny and amazing at the same time he is able to do so without even looking at the target. hehe

Hawkeye aiming a target with his arrow, free falling from a  building.

Hulk and Thor fighting with each other, Hulk unable to pull up Thor's hammer.

Hulk and Thor fighting together, and when they were side by side, Hulk seemed to stiill have energy that needs to be expelled and he punched Thor to his left.

Nick Fury being overly dramatic telling Ironman and the rest that Selviq had their photo on his pocket and then An agent said that it was not found in his pocket but on his locker. Then Nick Fury justified himself saying "they needed a push".

Loki Telling Hulk He is God and Hulk then came smashing him back and forth and then walks away sort of snorting "God"...

Loki trying to stab or put his knife on Tony Stark's heart and then repeated it again... only to hear some metal sound.

Ironman almost dead and then Hulk sort of shouted? and Ironman was surprised he just had to wake up...

There was also this scene when hulk trashed loki almost like a rag and loki just lay in there tired... Hehehe and when he finally was able to pull himself up and rose, the avengers were all in front of him...he asked ironman if he can have the drink he offered.

Ilocos Trip - treats and other pasalubong

As you may have known, we have come from a 3 day trip to the Ilocos Province, and i think one advice is for you to load up on cash, especially if you want to bring home some good pasalubong and yummy treats! They have loads of them! =) You'll never know which one to prioritize.

Non Food Items and Pasalubong:

Bangui Windmill Replica - They have this in huge and cute sizes. The bigger one can be displayed in table tops, coffee table or office desks. the small one is really cute and can be used so you can stick it on your refrigerator if you are collecting for your travel! They also have the same kind as souvenir for Cape Bojeador Replica (but these are hard to find, i only found one and it was already not in good shape). The smaller versions come in Magnetic and key chains, depending on your preference. Smaller ones are sold 3 for 100 pesos and the huge ones are sold for 160 pesos a piece.

They also have a variety of bracelets, pearl earrings, cellular phone trinkets which is much cheaper. The trinkets are only 10 pesos each and when you buy a bracelet, you get to have a free trinket too. Their are some nice head bands too, and they come in really cute colors - very appealing for the girls, especially and of course if you like accessories you'll never run out of choices especially in the Ilocos Norte Beaches.

Food Items:

Well you don't have to buy the fresh seafoods for take home, but just have it cooked on the resort you were staying in. They sell Sugpo or tiger prawns along the road(really fresh) for only 200pesos per 1 kilo. They initially told us its 460pesos per kilo and they sold it at more than half the price. The region is rich in Sea resources so its rather cheap to eat seafood in the area.

Ilocos Vinegar - This region boasts of the very good tasting Vinegar. Its sour, but kinda sweet and it smells really good!

Sticky Rice Variations such as Tupig, Candon Calamay, and of course the Royal Bibingka. The Bibingka sells for 85 pesos per 8 pieces.

Chicacorn - a very famous treat too, as it is cheaper... =) They have got a lot of flavors to choose from and you sure will enjoy at least one of them. Cheese, Barbeque, Spicy, Garlic flavors. Small pack of Chicacorn(any flavor) costs only 35 pesos. 55 pesos for the largest pack.

Vigan Longganisa - of course, the famous longganisa. They sell this by the dozen. small ones are sold for 100 pesos and larger ones 120 pesos per dozen.

Bagnet - You can buy also at the shop that sells most of the pasalubong, 380 pesos one slab.

Travel up the North! Ilocos Province Here I come... =)

A friend offered a cheap travel up the north, and who am i to decline such an offer, right?

Thursday night at 8 pm, we left Quezon City armed with stomach full and a back pack for a 3 day trip to Ilocos Province. We arrived at around 8am in Ilocos Norte.

These are the places we visited on Day 1 in Ilocos Norte (Friday Morning):
Paoay Church - No entrance fee, this church is so breathtaking, the whole garden smelled of sampaguita flowers! It is really a great place.
Sta. Monica Church - Very calming place, this is also the same place as the Sta Monica Park.
Malacanang of the North - Old house of the Marcoses, They had a couple of paintings of the former President Marcos, A life size "mannequin" of him too, and some old furnitures (probably what's left of the old grandeur of the place) - They charge an entrance fee of 20 pesos for adults, and 10 pesos for students.

We went straight to the Polaris Resort in Pagudpud after our visit of the above. Had our lunch, walked the beach a little and freshened up ourselves. We are off to another set of places to go in the area and we left at 230PM.

Ilocos Norte Day 1 (Friday Afternoon):
Patapat Viaduct - This place is very far from the Pagudpud beaches, still about an hour of travel. It is very beautiful though. I do not have a good shot though. =( I was busy looking at the sea... and was too busy feeling the breeze in my face - the air is so fresh and wonderful.

Blue Lagoon - Oh this place is yet another set of long stretch of white beach. The sand is similar to that of the Saud Beach resort. In this area, you will see the more expensive places to stay such as Hannah's Convention Center. The setting is somewhat similar to Boracay (only much shorter). There are stay in houses too!

Bantay Abot Cave - oh this one is such an experience. There is a steep stone ladder down the sea, with lots of slippery rocks and occasional waves slamming the side of the cave. The place is very beautiful too and makes you wonder how can such a hole (lower left in the above photo) happen in rock formation.  There is an entrance to this too - 20 pesos for adults and 10 pesos for children.  Right photo is the view to your right when you stand beside the rock after going down the stone steps. =)

To close the road trip, we had a pitstop and "re-fueled" ourselves with 1 Buko each. Its only 15 pesos! =) Our day ended  at around 7PM in the evening, where me and my friends had a good swim. We would never have thought of getting out of the water had they only had lights on the shore.... Pagudpud beach is really clean. The water is very clear too. Having a dip in the sea water never fails to give one a good night sleep!

Day 2 of our trip

Starting very early, we checked out of the resort early, as we had many stops to take and a friend to visit in Vigan.

Day 2 Ilocos Norte (Saturday Morning)

Bangui Windmill - My friend's Aunt said she was able to count how many windmills are there... 20, she said. =) They are huge, and they look very good up close! =) The seashore though is very rocky... (No entrance fee - just go there and take pictures - its hard to do a jump shot though! haha)

Cape Bojeador /Burgos Lighthouse - No entrance fee! A lighthouse built during the Spanish era. Going up this place was somewhat challenging for the driver of our van, there was only one road, whether going up or down the place. The top already is a cliff, i can say. Lots of vendors for souvenirs and refreshments. There's nothing much to see though, but its got both the background of the sea and mountain ranges to the other side.

Marcos Mausoleum - 50 pesos to view the house, free to view Marcos(?) preserved in a dim lit room with smell of death all over the place. No cameras, videos allowed and you can only go over the place, you aren't allowed to stop and take a closer look. The house displayed some more Marcos memorabilia(photo below). This museum opens at 9am in the morning.

Day 2 Ilocos Sur (Saturday Afternoon):

We also passed by the house where Marcos was born - we did not stop but just took a picture... and here it is...
We have a friend who lives in Ilocos Sur, just 5 minutes away from Vigan, and so we decided to stop over their place as they also have a baptismal celebration. I also need to see my God-Daughter! =) She offered us a roof to stay in for the night which was also great! ha ha

We had lunch at their place and settled in a bit, then we also asked them to show us around the city for some mini tour.

First stop in the afternoon was the St. Augustine Church and its Bell Tower.

Next is the Baluarte - this is the mini zoo that is owned by Governor Chavit Singson, There are no charge to get inside, it is free, and you can even have a pony horse ride (it was rather a short "Kalesa" ride. The Baluarte have quite a number of exotic animals, like ostriches that wander about the place - they are not caged or was not contained in a location, there are cute little horses or ponies, peacock, deer, a couple of camels and turkeys.

Some Tips on shopping for souvenirs like T-shirts, bags, etc - we found that it was really cheap in Baluarte mini Pasalubong Center. They only sell about Php 110 t-shirts that sells for 180 to 260 pesos near the Marcos Mausoleum. We found them to be selling even cheaper than the Vigan plaza stores.

Late in the afternoon, we arrived at Vigan. We parked our van in the Mcdonald's and off we went to Calle Crisologo for that Vigan Tour. You may also opt for a Kalesa ride (about 200php) but you will appreciate it more if you just walk, to my surprise, it really is just a short distance from the Vigan Cathedral. This is the street where you will find the famous Vigan Empanada (which we were not able to taste because Aga Mulach and Bayani Agbayani was shooting for a feature of the Empanada at the time, hence we are not even allowed to set foot the area.

It is best to come to Vigan in the evening - you will appreciate it more as the lights of the street gives boost to the "feel" of the lost era where this setting used to be at.

Our Ilocos Trip was marked to an end with our visit to the Cathedral at Vigan as we pray for guidance for a safe way home, Sunday Morning.

I will post a separate blog for what you can buy in Ilocos for your pasalubong to friends and family. =)

TV Series: REVENGE Quotes

As  in my previous post, Revenge is an american series. First Season started on September 2011 and is scheduled to end on May 2012.

This blog entry is dedicated to the quotable "quotes" of the TV Series. These are arranged according to the order of the episodes, but I have not indicated which episodes I got them from. (My bad i was not able to jot those along side the episodes.

Anyway, here are the quotes from this Series that I am sure you will love!

When everything you love has been stolen from you, sometimes all you have left is revenge.

The worst betrayal comes from the ones we trust the most.

Our past defines who we are.

TRUSTING YOUR HEART IS THE RISKIEST THING OF ALL...

In the end, the only person we can trust is ourselves.

For the innocent, the past may hold the reward. But, For the treacherous, its only a matter of time before the past delivers what they truly deserve.

People who aren't who they claim to be are very very dangerous.

The greatest weapon anyone can use against us is our mind; by preying on the doubts and uncertainties that already lurk there.

If we are open and honest, can we be truly be loved?can we find the courage to release our deepest secrets, or in the end we are only unknowable even to ourselves.

In revenge, as in life there eis an equal and an opposite reaction. In the end the guilty always falls.

Guilt, is a powerful affliction, you can try to turn your back on it but thats when it sneaks up behind you and eats you alive.

Some people struggle to understand their own guilt unwilling or unable to justify the part they play in it. Others run away from their guilt, shutting their conscience until there's no conscience left at all.

There's two sides to every person, one that we  reveal to the world and the other kept hidden inside.

Everybody's got a price, what's yours?
Revenge is a stone in your path.  Inside a viper's nest you must be a viper too.

We all have secrets we keep locked away from the rest of the world. friendships we pretend, relationships we hide, but worse of all is the love we never let shine, the most dangerous secret a person can bury are those we keep from ourselves.

If you let your emotions guide you, you will fail.

Always question where your loyalty lies.

Reality cannot be worst than my imagination.

Truth is a battle of perceptions, People only see what they are prepared to confront.

Its not what you look at that matters, but what you see.

The best thing to fight with chaos is with chaos.

Doubt is a disease, it infects the mind, creating a mistrust of one's motives and of one's perceptions.
Doubt has the ability to call in to question everything you ever believed about someone, and reinforce the darkest suspicion of our inner circles.

There is no such thing as justice, in or out of court.

Absolution is the most powerful form of forgiveness, the full parting from suspicion and accountability. Its the liberation of a stolen future...

"Absolution is a washing away of sin. A promise of rebirth. And the chance to escape the transgressions of those who came before us. The best among us will learn from the mistakes of the past. While the rest seem doomed to repeat them. And then there are those who operate on the fringes of society. Unburdened by the confines of morality and conscience. A ruthless bread of monsters whose deadliest weapon is their ability to hide in plain sight. If the people I’ve come to bring justice to cannot be bound by the quest for absolution, then neither will I."

They say grief occurs in 5 stages. First there is denial, followed by anger, then comes bargaining, depression & acceptance. But grief is a merciless master. Just when you think you are free, you realize you never stood a chance.

In every life there comes a day of reckoning, a time when unsettled scores demand their retribution and our own lies and transgressions are finally laid bare.

TV Series: REVENGE

Don't you want revenge? I am sure you have had an experience in your life when all you want is to have justice served to you... Well this is actually the theme of the latest TV Series I am so hooked with.
The show is an american tv series, started last Sept 2011, and was shown in ABC.
This is a new show, but it has already won the people's choice award this year. It is a consistent top rater, and I think you will love it, for all its worth - drama, suspense, action(yes), some punch lines, and fun stuffs, deception, mystery... its a complete package.

See details in this LINK

So Far, the series is in its 22nd episode. i am only able to watch until 16th, though. but i am on my next few episodes.  My next posts will include some quotes i have collected from the series itself. It usually starts and ends with a very meaningful quote to remember - by the lead character herself. Emily Thorne.

In this show, you will either love or hate the characters - and you will be surprised as to how they turn out to be! he he

Just to quote Emily in the Pilot Episode: "When everything you love has been stolen from you, sometimes all you have left is REVENGE"
